For most people, the mystical Kingdom of Bhutan has always felt like a world away—pristine, exclusive, and slightly elusive. But starting April 2026, the "Land of the Thunder Dragon" is becoming more accessible than ever.
With Drukair increasing its flight frequency and Bhutan’s "Gelephu Mindfulness City" project gaining global attention, 2026 is shaping up to be the golden year for Singaporean travelers to visit the Himalayas. Here is everything you need to know about the new flight connections, schedules, and travel requirements for your journey from the Lion City to the Last Shangri-La.

The most significant news for Singaporean travelers is the expansion of Drukair’s (Royal Bhutan Airlines) direct service. Historically operating a twice-weekly schedule, Drukair is set to increase its frequency to three flights per week starting April 2026.
This change offers far greater flexibility for itinerary planning, allowing for shorter "long weekend" trips or extended immersions without being locked into rigid weekly dates.

The flight into Bhutan is often cited as one of the most spectacular in the world. As you approach Paro International Airport, the aircraft navigates through the steep valleys of the Himalayas, offering breathtaking views of the peaks.
Aircraft: Flights are typically operated by the Airbus A319 or A320neo. While Drukair has ordered the long-range Airbus A321XLRs, these are slated for delivery closer to 2030. For 2026, you will be flying on their reliable, well-maintained existing fleet.
Business Class: Features a 2-2 configuration with wider seats and enhanced legroom—highly recommended for the spectacular views upon descent.
Economy Class: Comfortable 3-3 configuration with Bhutanese hospitality and inflight meals.

When flying Singapore to Paro, request a window seat on the left side of the aircraft. On a clear day, you may catch a glimpse of the Himalayan range a before landing!
Best Time to Visit:
Spring (March–May): Rhododendrons in bloom and pleasant weather.
Autumn (September–November): Clear skies, perfect for mountain views and the famous Thimphu Tshechu festival.
Booking Lead Time: With only 3 flights a week from Singapore, seats fill up fast, especially for October and April. Aim to book 3–4 months in advance.
